Richard is qualified as a Dental Surgeon (Cardiff 2010) as well as a Medical Doctor (Bristol 2016). He initially trained in general dentistry, completing vocational training in the UK, before taking hospital posts in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics in the UK. Following medical qualification, he rotated through junior doctor posts including acute medicine, general and plastic surgery, emergency medicine and even acute psychiatry. He entered surgical training in Ireland in 2018, training in general surgery and trauma & orthopaedics in Cork before returning to Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at St James’s Hospital in Dublin. Richard is currently nearing the end of his specialist training in Oral Surgery at Dublin Dental University Hospital/Trinity College Dublin. His specialist training has also specifically encompassed facial pain and sedation. He passed his speciality fellowship exams in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine in April 2021 through the RCSI.
Richard provides a full range of Oral Surgery services at Maguire Dental Care, including, but not limited to: surgical extractions/third molar surgery, facial pain, soft tissue evaluation/biopsy, TMJ problems, grafting/sinus lift, orthodontic exposures and implantology. The practice has CBCT and this is often utilised when indicated. Richard offers treatment under IV sedation and is able to offer treatment on insurance on a part participating basis.
